The FormatException with the text 'Input string was not in a correct format'...
Posted by Vladimir Lyutetsky on 26 February 2008 01:54 PM

When an MDX query is processed, you receive a System.FormatException with the error and stack trace like:

"Input string was not in a correct format."
at System.Number.StringToNumber(String str, NumberStyles options, NumberBuffer& number, NumberFormatInfo info, Boolean parseDecimal)
...

This error is a known ADOMD.NET problem that sometimes appears, if the Number Format settings in the Windows Control Panel are other than English (American). To get rid of this bug, try the following:

  1. Take these steps:
    1. Open the Regional and Language Options applet from the Control Panel.
    2. Note the Current Format.
    3. Change the Current Format to English (Australian)
    4. Click Apply.
    5. Change the Current Format to the noted format, eg, English (American).
    6. Click Apply and then click OK.
  2. Install the latest ADOMD.NET version. It may be downloaded from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=50b97994-8453-4998-8226-fa42ec403d17&DisplayLang=en
