RiaChart - Getting started

Placing the RiaChart Control on the Web Page

  1. Place the ScriptManager control on the web page.
  2. From the RadarSoft Essential Pack tab in the Toolbox select the RiaChart control and drag it to your web page.

Another way is to convert the Chart control (that already is on your page) into RiaChart: simply substitute the “asp” tag prefix for “rs” and the “Chart” tag name for “RiaChart” ” and add the following line after the “<%@ Page … %>” line of your apsx page:

<%@ Register assembly="RadarSoft.Web.Essential.Chart" namespace="RadarSoft.Web.Essential.Chart" tagprefix="rs" %>

Functions of the RiaChart Control

Using the RiaChart control on your web page expands the options of data analysis that can be presented both as diagrams and as charts. This element is a .Net Framework component that supports the capability of design in the Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 environment. The visualization of the RiaChart control is based on the Silverlight technology.

Functional Capabilities of the RSCart Control:

  • Five different types of diagrams (Column, Bar, Point, Line, Pie).
  • Automatic and manual setting of the diagram properties.
  • An unlimited number of areas to create.
  • Display of the area name in the header.
  • Specifying data as a series of points with set coordinates through binding the control to the data source or using the series collection editor.
  • Support of different types of data, including the date and time type.
  • A legend for each series, specifying its name and color in the diagram.
  • Display of several series in different colors within the area of a single diagram.
  • Defining vertical and horizontal axes and the lines of the coordinate grid.
  • Automatic and manual specification of the coordinate range (the minimum and maximum values of axes) of the chart on the coordinate grid.
  • Automatic layout of label names on the axis.
  • Display of the axes headers.
  • Highlighting elements in diagrams.
  • More that 50 formulas for statistic and financial analysis of data.
  • Manipulating data: sorting, searching points with set values, grouping, filtering, exporting, copying, splitting and merging series.
